Come Celebrate the True Meaning of Christmas - Without all of the Hassle.
Christmas in July is the 12th!
Why do we celebrate Christmas in July?
- Because the Incarnation is central to Anglican theology as we seek to be the Body of Christ in the world.
- To remind us that we celebrate the Incarnation every Sunday, not just on Christmas.
- Because God came to us in the person of Christ Jesus that we are called to seek and serve Christ in all people.
- To give us an opportunity to celebrate Christmas without the shopping, cooking (except cookies, of course), cleaning and other tasks that often comes with Christmas in December.
In celebrating Christmas in July, it is our tradition to make Christmas Cookies and to bring gifts for the Baby Jesus.
Cookies: This year our goal is to distribute 100 dozen Christmas cookies around Springfield. We will take them to the staffs of nursing homes, emergency rooms, other areas in hospitals, fire stations, and police departments. If you can make Christmas cookies and/or help deliver them that morning please send us an email.
Gifts: This year we will be offering socks and underwear as our gifts for the Baby Jesus. These will be given to the Springfield city elementary schools. If you would like to offer a gift, please bring any of the following
- Socks in children's sizes.
- Underwear - Boys or Girls - sizes 4,6, 8, and 10.
Gifts will be offered at the creche during the offertory in thanksgiving for the birth of Jesus.
If you have any questions about our Christmas in July celebrations, please call the church office at 323-8651 or send us an email.
